Items You Shouldn't Leave in Your Car This Summer

We all know that the hot weather can take a toll on your car's battery and tires, but did you ever consider the contents within your vehicle? There are certain everyday items you should never leave inside your car. With temperatures on the rise, there are several things to be mindful of leaving things inside your car. Depending on what is left behind, you could permanently damage your belongings or car. These are the various items you should never let sit inside your car on a hot summer day:

Plastic Bottles

Plastic bottles run a risk of warping and melting. Next time you notice an abandoned water bottle in your car, it's best to trash it.

It's plain and simple: chocolate is messy. Please don't ruin a good piece of candy by accidentally leaving it in the car. It can leave you with a mess that could ruin your interior.

No one would enjoy being stuck in a car with no AC, even your pets. Doing so could kill your furry friend, so it's best to leave the car on, crack a window, or not leave them in the car at all.

Like our car battery, most of our electronics have batteries too, which means they are susceptible to damage from extreme heat. Subsequently, most phone manufacturers list optimal temperature and specifically warn against leaving your device in your car, where it has the potential to overheat.

Aerosol canisters

Products such as spray paint, hairspray, or cleaning products packaged in aerosol canisters should never be left in the car. This specific packaging usually has a danger warning label to bring awareness of their sensitivity to heat. If it reaches a particular temperature zone, the contents in the canister may expand and explode.

Medication and Sunscreen

Try not to leave any sunscreen or medications in extreme temperatures since they have medicinal chemical properties. Exposing these products to high temperatures can shorten their shelf life and change their chemical composition.
